Birth 21st August, 1927 in his native village Annaram, Shad Nagar, district Mehboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh.
Education & Degree He had his primary education in village Edulabad of Rangareddy district and thereafter in Kayastha Pathshala and Keshav Memorial School, Hyderabad. After getting his High School education in Vivekvardhini High School, Hyderabad, he had college education at Nizam College, Hyderabad. He received Law Graduate Degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
Degrees: B.A., L.L.B.
Early Life A known freedom fighter, Shri Reddy took part in the "Quit India" movement in 1942 at the age of 14 and was arrested during a student protest against Gandhiji's arrest.
He actively participated in the Hyderabad Peoples' Movement in 1947 and organized "Satyagraha Movement" against Nizam's rule, for which he was imprisoned for six months.
While in jail, he started and edited a weekly named "Payam-e-Nav" and earlier, as a Class VI student, published a Hindi fortnightly "Mukul".
During the Emergency, he was detained under "MISA" for 18 months starting 1st August, 1975. He was also arrested multiple times during Congress rule and actively participated in the "Bhoodan Movement" of Acharya Vinobha Bhave and Jayaprakash Narayan.
Highlights of Career Shri Reddy held various positions such as:
- Chairman, Action Committee of Hyderabad Students' Union (1947–48)
- General Secretary, Bar Association, City Civil Court, Hyderabad
- Chairman, Telengana Praja Samiti (1969–71)
- General Secretary of Socialist Party and Janata Party (AP Unit)
- Convenor, Jai Prakash Narayan Committee (AP) in 1975
- Elected to Rajya Sabha in 1978 (Janata Party) and again in 1984 (Telugu Desam Party)
He was a founding member of multiple organizations including Socialist Youth Wing and Samajwadi Yuvajan Sabha.
Travels Abroad He visited Malaysia, Singapore, Rome, Libya, Kenya (Nairobi), London, China, Hong Kong, West Germany, France, Holland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Norway, etc.
