Education & Degree	Educated at Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and Law College, Calcutta. Practised in Ganjam District from 1919 to 1921. B.A., B.L.
Highlights of Career	- Joined Indian National Congress in 1921. - Started the Kisan Sangh in Madras Presidency in 1920. - Served as M.L.A. in the Madras Council from 1920 to 1929. - Resigned in 1929 during the Salt Satyagraha movement. - Was frequently imprisoned during the Freedom Movement. - Elected as M.L.A. in Orissa in 1936. - Served as the Chief Minister of Orissa from 1937 to 1939; resigned due to World War II policies. - Member of the Constituent Assembly from 1947 to 1951. - Held membership in the A.I.C.C. for several years. - Served three terms as President of the Utkal Pradesh Congress Committee. - Appointed as Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1962 to 1967.
